Hello everyone,
Thanks for visiting.
Over the years, through experiences both positive and not so positive, I have revised the process and feel now that I provide an effective and efficient service. I have listed the steps below:
- You fill in an application form.
- I check to see if your qualifications meet the correct criteria. (Note: A 3 year B.Ed is fine)
- I send the application to the agency in Melbourne where they decided if your experience is suitable for their schools. (Usually, a minimum of 3 years experience is required)
- Once given the ok, we arrange a meeting.
- At the meeting, I give you all the letters and application forms needed to gather your documents from the various institutes. (Gardaí, colleges, Board of Managements, etc)
- At this meeting, you sign the paperwork for the VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching), this means you won’t have to meet me again! We also have a chat about the dress code, curriculum and the expectations of the agency in Melbourne. You will also be required to pay the €195 fee at this meeting.
- We wait for the documents from the Gardaí, colleges, etc, these are then sent to me.
- Once I received them, I double check them and then send paperwork and supporting documents to the VIT.
- If you have a 3 year B.Ed, I get a principal in Melbourne to endorse your application.
- The VIT send an invoice for your annual fee and registration cost. This is $129 Aus dollars and is paid by you.
- Once this is paid the VIT card will be sent to you.
- We arrange a date for your interview to with the agency in Melbourne, this is in essence a chat to make sure you are suitable. Note: No teacher has ever not received employment from the agency.
The length of the registration process is very much based on the length of time it takes for you to gather your documents. I will have everything ready to be sent at the meeting. Once the documents have been received it usually takes 6-8 weeks.
I hope this answers some of your questions, I have attached the application form. Initially, you do not need to fill in every part, as you qualifications and experience are the only important thing at the beginning.
Warm Regards
Bernard Dalton
