My name is Bernard Dalton, I am the founder and owner of mycareerbreak.ie. I am a primary school teaching principal in Glengurt NS, Tournafulla, Co:Limerick. www.glengurtns.scoilnet.ie
I founded this site in response to my own experiences teaching in Australia. I took a career break from Sept 2010 to September 2011. I travelled for 6 months in South America and spent the rest in Australia. It was my aim to begin teaching as soon as I arrived but this never happened!
The idea for this website came from my own experience trying to teach in Australia. As I sat in the Victorian Institute of Teaching’s headquarters , trying to explain who the Garda Siochana were, I thought to myself “There must be an easier way!”
So from September to December 2011, I began to register friends in the different teaching councils in Australia. These were my testers that enabled me to fully understand the registration process in each state.
When I was happy with the service I could provide I launched the website, this was the 7th January 2012.
Our teaching agencies
We have worked hard to set up reliable packages. Unlike Ireland, Teaching agencies are ten a penny in Australia, like any industry these can be superb, average or truly awful to work for. With the larger agencies you feel like a number that earns them money, you recieve no support or respect.This is no way for a skilled professional to be treated.
